I always enjoy friends and family who come this way to experience the amazing country of Thailand. Whether they choose to experience the mountains near Chiang Mai or Khao Yai National Park, or city life on the Chao Praya River in Bangkok, or beach life along the Gulf of Thailand, I believe there's something in Thailand for everyone. I know there's always something different for me... and I've lived here for over 12 years!
My cousins from Canada decided to venture this way at the start of the year and experience a lot of what Thailand has to offer. They first met a friend and explored Chiang Mai area before taking a flight to meet me in Bangkok. Our journey in Bangkok began by taking the light rail from the airport to a port on the Chao Praya River, then river taxi to our hotel located along the river.
In addition to witnessing life along the Chao Praya, my cousins followed the path of most tourists wanting to see the Grand Palace and Jim Thompson residence, then taking in shopping opportunities like Chatuchak. A good start for sure for the few days they were in the city.
Next time they visit, I would recommend a night tour of city highlights including the Throne Hall, and doing some day trips to places near Bangkok like Sukhothai and Kanchanaburi where the River Kwai is located. No shortage of attractions to keep a tourist busy!
