The month of May is not only one of the busiest months in the school year, which for me involves coordinating AP exams and completing next year's teacher/student schedules, but it's also a time of celebration as the school year draws to a close and we say goodbye to staff and students who are not returning to ICS.Bulletin boards all over campus remind us of the countdown, not only to summer vacation but this reminder outside the Kindergarten room of how many years to graduation...
On the High School side, I worked with Gary (Principal) and Gae (Secretary) the most this past year as I performed my duties as Dean of Students. How privileged to work with such quality people who love the Lord, modeling Christ as they perform administrative duties and care for the students.
Besides, my new office is at least three times the real estate of my current office =)
It isn't all work at ICS for we have our moments of jest as well. This year a good friend Amy and I decided to play a prank on our mutual friend Jason, a High School Math teacher. Those who know Jason would agree that his strengths lie in the area of mathematics and not music. That's what made it so tempting to schedule him with the High School Choir class next year.
Since I help coordinate next year's teacher/student schedules, we thought I should take advantage of this and create a bogus schedule for Jason. With some added support from the Principal, giggly girls who were told to act all starry-eyed around Jason because they heard they had him for Choir next year and also knowing how to send an email solely to Jason but making it look as though it went to the entire HS staff, we were able to make Jason's heart "skip a beat" (as he told us later) at the thought of having to take on a choir class. We couldn't keep the prank going for too long and Jason was relieved to learn he was only responsible for Algebra and Honors Algebra classes. All of us imagining Jason as choir director are relieved as well =)
I could include dozens of pictures of staff in this post but decided on a sample of friends around our table.
